Painting
"Look, it's my misery that I have to paint this kind of painting, it's your misery that you have to love it, and the price of the misery is thirteen hundred and fifty dollars."
~ Mark Rothko The Technique:
First, a rough sketch in soft pencil blocks out key areas; often followed by black acrylic to 'draw' the subject, as one would with India ink. Oil paint is frequently thinned with varnish and applied as a stain, allowing the sketch and the brightness of the primed canvas or wood (in lieu of white pigment) to show through. Included here also are commissioned murals and painted props. |
