Heavy reliance upon an ingenious little pencil, the Bohemia Works Toison D'Or: 1900 7B. The lead is so soft that the final effect emulates both the dark, greasy line of conté, with the dry, whispy "smudginess" of charcoal. India ink applied with a bamboo calligraphy brush and bright splashes of watercolour are also used. The pointed-tip brush, designed to be held perpendicular to the surface, allows for greater variety of line depending on how much downward pressure is applied. |
